<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out active yaw control by pitch angle control of a blade by determining a target azimuth while not depending on the anemoscope for measuring the yaw angle of the nacelle with respect to the wind direction. <P>SOLUTION: The horizontal axis windmill comprises an independent pitch driving device for independently driving the pitch angle of a blade, a nacelle azimuth measuring device, an azimuth angle measuring device, and a control device for generating a torque around an yawing axis in a rotor by variable angle control of the pitch angle of the blade according to the azimuth angle by providing a pitch angle control command value for each blade to the independent pitch driving device based on the measurement value of the nacelle azimuth angle measuring device and the measurement value of the azimuth angle measuring device.
