P.V.C., for making foams by mechanical beating, has adsorbed thereon an emulsifier system comprising an alkali metal or ammonium alkyl sulphate, an alkali metal or ammonium soap and an alkanolamide and preferably a condensation product of an alkylene oxide with an alcohol, phenol or acid. In an example this is prepared by emulsion polymerizing vinyl chloride in the presence of sodium lauryl sulphate, diethanol lauramide and lauric acid, neutralizing the latter with potash solution and adding an ethylene oxide-lauric acid condensation product. After drying the resin is plasticized. |
