A solar power system for use as a solar roofing construction based on an absorber system with a transparent liquid container e.g. ofpolymer with a solar absorbing liquid. A transparent upper panel in front of the liquid container can provide a surface of a roof construction. The absorber system is suited to cover the entire rooftop and is thus capable of providing both heat and electric power for a complete household. The thermal energy generated by the roof during winter periods may be used with an integrated heat pump for cheap domestic heating and hot water supply, superseding the need for a geothermal heating system. When excess heat of>80°C is generated the thermal energy is utilized in an organic Rankine cycle (ORC) for electricity production. A forecasting and control unit using external weather measurements in combination with internet weather forecasts will by fuzzy logic calculate the optimum periods of time for use of the heat pump during the colder periods. To prevent excessive pressure and melting of critical components during system failure thermo chromatic dyes are used to change colour of the absorber liquid as well as the transparent property of the upper panel in order to reflect energy from the system until normal operation is restored. Also alternate use of the circulation pumps and external radiators will assist to prevent overheating if the ORC unit fails. |
