<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide toner achieving high image density and fixing properties and storage properties of the toner even when a resin having a polylactic acid as a structural unit is used for a binder resin, and to provide a developer and an image forming method using the toner. <P>SOLUTION: The toner for electrostatic image development contains at least a binder resin and a colorant, and is granulated in an aqueous medium. The binder resin contains a polymer M having a polyester skeleton having a condensed structure of an aliphatic hydroxycarboxylic acid. The polymer M includes a moiety M1 derived from a photoreactive hydroxyl carboxylic acid (D and L bodies of α-hydroxy carboxylic acid) M1 expressed by general formula (1):R1-C<SP POS="POST">*</SP>H(-OH)(-COOH), where R1 represents a hydrogen atom or an aliphatic group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms.
