<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel lithium insertion electrode material based on an orthosilicate derivative, and to provide an electrochemical power generator having an electrode containing these materials, and a variable photoconductive device. <P>SOLUTION: Orthosilicate containing SiO<SB POS="POST">4</SB><SP POS="POST">4-</SP>tetranion as a building block is used by capturing at least one transition metal having at least divalent valency. Lithium enters or exits the structure to compensate for change in the valence of a redox conjugation during actuation of the electrode thus maintaining electrical neutral as a whole. The electrode material includes, for example, Li<SB POS="POST">2</SB>MnSiO<SB POS="POST">4</SB>, Li<SB POS="POST">2</SB>FeSiO<SB POS="POST">4</SB>, and the like. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
