<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a host device that controls screen capture using a web capture application or a capture application, and to provide a control method for the host device. <P>SOLUTION: A host device includes a control unit and a saving unit. The control unit captures a first capture area displayed on a web browser screen by controlling a web capture application to add it to a first shared clipboard, and saves it to the saving unit as a first file compatible with a capture application; and captures a second capture area displayed on a wallpaper by controlling the capture application to add it to a second shared clipboard, and saves it to the saving unit as a second file compatible with the web capture application. The sizes of the first and second shared clipboards correspond to a size of a recording medium.
