<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for measuring pulse pressure always mountable and easy to always measure pulse pressure while a subject freely moves without using a cuff type sphygmomanometer. <P>SOLUTION: A vascular diameter is measured by a vascular diameter sensor 12 using ultrasonic waves, based on a reflection arrival time from a vascular wall in a living body. A height-determining unit 36 determines a difference in height between two points of a cardiac position and a predetermined position, and a water head is found. The water head is converted into a vascular diameter, the vascular diameter and blood pressure are deemed to have a substantially linear change, so that the time change of vascular diameter is measured to obtain values correlating with the time change of blood pressure, thus, the pulse pressure is precisely measured without using the cuff type sphygmomanometer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
