<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a handwritten character input method and device that effectively utilize character input information finalized by recognizing handwritten character input patterns as characters to enable, when any of the same characters is to be inputted again, the character itself to be easily inputted again and to make the pattern of the earlier finalized character recognizable as a character by additionally writing over that pattern. <P>SOLUTION: A handwritten character input pattern resulting from a handwritten character input operation is recognized as a character, and candidate characters obtained from the result of recognition are displayed. A character selected by the user out of the candidate characters is sequentially displayed on a finalized character display unit as a finalized character. When the user wishes to use a character displayed on the finalized character display unit for the next character input, he or she can instruct selection of that character from the finalized character display unit to have the character pattern of that character to be read out and displayed on a handwritten input unit to permit additional writing. At the same time the candidate characters matching the character pattern displayed on the handwritten input unit are also displayed and, when any of the candidate characters is instructed to be selected, that character is made the next finalized character. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
