<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of an internal combustion engine, capable of avoiding the valve timing of an intake valve and an exhaust valve from becoming the combination in which the combustion easily becomes unstable when changing the combustion mode between a compression ignition combustion mode and a spark ignition combustion mode, to ensure the stable combustion state. <P>SOLUTION: In the control device of the internal combustion engine, the combustion mode is changed to the compression ignition combustion mode and the spark ignition combustion mode by respectively changing the valve timing of an intake valve 6 and an exhaust valve 7 by an intake V/T changing mechanism 13 and an exhaust V/T changing mechanism 14. When the determined combustion mode is changed from the compression ignition combustion mode to the spark ignition combustion mode, the changing operation of the intake valve 6 to the valve timing (a high-speed V/T) for the spark ignition combustion mode is executed preferentially to the changing operation of the exhaust valve 7 to the valve timing (the high-speed V/T) for the spark ignition combustion mode (Step 2 in Fig.5, Steps 35-37 in Fig.9). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
