The exhaust gas system has an exhaust gas line (2) and a catalyst arrangement (3) with deflection devices (4) for exhaust gases during fuel cut-off. An exhaust gas recirculation line (6) is provided, by which the exhaust gases recirculated forwards an internal-combustion engine (1). The deflection devices deflect the sliding air flow in the recirculation line. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for operating an internal-combustion engine; and (2) a controlling device for an internal-combustion engine, which has a computer program for the execution of an operating method.
