<p>The purpose of the present invention is to provide an oil seal configured in such a manner that the contact surface pressure of a second dust lip, which is disposed so as to face the outside of the machine, against the shaft is set high to improve the sealing performance of the second dust lip. To achieve the purpose, the oil seal mounted to the inner periphery of a shaft hole in a housing and in slidable close contact with the peripheral surface of the shaft inserted through the shaft hole is provided with: a main lip for sealing sealed fluid which faces the inside of the machine; and the dust lip for sealing out foreign matter, such as muddy water, which faces the outside of the machine. The dust lip comprises a first dust lip and the second dust lip which is provided further toward the outside of the machine than the first dust lip. The second dust lip is configured so that the second dust lip has a radial tightening margin relative to the housing which is disposed on the outer peripheral side of the second dust lip, and this configuration increases the contact surface pressure of the second dust lip against the shaft.</p> |
