The system has driver assistance modules (10-1 to 10-n) comprising a set of sub-functions, and a control unit (3) for adjusting the sub-functions of the driver assistance modules, where the driver assistance modules includes a track recognition system. The sub-functions of the driver assistance modules are assigned to two groups. The degree of security for the sub-functions of the driver assistance modules is centrally set for a group of control devices. The degree of automation for the sub-functions of the driver assistance modules is centrally set for another group of control devices. An independent claim is also included for a method for adjusting a driver assistance system for a vehicle.
