PRESSURE VESSEL

A pressure vessel (1) with a separable outer jacket (3) is disclosed. The outer jacket (3) is enclosed at one end by a lid (17) which is arranged to be inserted into the open end of the jacket (3). When inserted into the outer jacket (3), the lid (17) can be rotated between a release position from which the lid (17) can be removed from the outer jacket (3) and a locked position in which the lid (17) cannot be removed from the jacket (3). Once in the locked position the lid (17) can be fixed in place by attaching a retaining ring (19) to the pressure vessel (1). The retaining ring (19) comprises a circular band (67) and a plurality of tabs (69) which act to block channels (51) on the exterior of the lid (19) through which protrusions (57) on the interior of the outer jacket (3) pass when the lid (17) is attached to the jacket (3) preventing the lid (17) from being rotated back to the release position and removed from the jacket (3) whilst the retaining ring is in place.
