1360017 Organohydrogen polysiloxane emulsions CHEMISCHE FABRIK PFERSEE GmbH 22 June 1971 [30 June 1970] 29298/71 Heading C3T [Also in Division D1] A substantially linear organohydrogenpolysiloxane emulsion contains as emulsifier a polyoxyethylene alkyalmine of the formula or a salt of one of these with a C 1-3 organic acid or a mineral acid, R being a saturated or unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon radical of at least 12 C atoms, and x, y and z each being an integer greater than 1. Suitable emulsifiers include those obtained by treating a coconut fatty amine, stearylamine, oleylamine, hexadecylamine, dodecyl/hexadecyl amine mixture or N-stearyl-or-hexadecyltrimethylene diamine with 5 to 50 mols. of ethylene oxide; suitable acids include H.COOH, CH 3 .COOH, C 2 H 5 .- COOH, HCl, HBr, H 2 SO 4 and H 3 PO 4 . A C 4-10 alkanol may be present during emulsification, and urea, or thiourea, ethyleneurea, propyleneurea or dihydroxyethyleneurea may be added as stabilizer. In Examples 1, 3, 5 and 6 a solution of a polymethylhydrogensiloxane/polydimethylsiloxane mixture in tetrachloroethylene/toluene, or of a polymethylhydrogensiloxane in chlorinated benzene, or of a methyl-hydrogensiloxanediethylsiloxane copolymer in C 2 Cl 4 is emulsified in an aqueous solution of ethoxylated hexadecylamine acetate, ethoxylated heptadecylamine, ethoxylated N-stearyl trimethylene diamine or ethoxylated coconut amine hydrochloride, the final pH's being adjusted to 1À7-2À8. In Examples 2, 4 and 7 octanol, hexanol or butanol is added to a solution of polymethyl hydrogen siloxane in tetrachloroethylene/toluene, trichloroethylene, or tetrachloroethylene, followed by ethoxylated hexadecylamine acetate, ethoxylated stearylamine, or ethoxylated N-hexadecyl trimethylene diamine, and water, urea or ethyleneurea optionally being added to the emulsion then made. Cotton poplin and velvet are treated with the emulsions of Examples 1 or 2, made up into baths also containing as catalyst (a) a product from bisphenol A diglycidyl ether, cyanamide, triethanolamine, isobutanol and acetic acid or (b) a mixed fatty acid Zr salt, and optionally a conventional dimethylol ethyleneurea/hexamethoxymethylmelamine/zinc nitrate solution. |
