Hot isostatic pressing - for application of wear resistant layer

Compound material consisting of a carrier material and a layer applied to it, is prepared by the attachment of a powder layer on to the carrier material following which the two are enclosed into a gas tight metal sheath and exposed simultaneously to high pressure and temperature resulting in compaction of the powder, it's sintering and joining to the carrier material. Pref. the powder is poured round the carrier positioned in a sheath which is subsequently outgassed and heated prior to sealing and isostatic hot pressing. The process is intended for the application of HSS coatings onto roll surfaces.
