Beacon for a street toll system

The beacon (4) has a transceiver (5) for communication with vehicle on-board units of a road tolling system. The transceiver is additionally equipped and designed with an omni-directional antenna (12). A channel reservation message is transmitted before the beginning of a directional wireless communication. The directional wireless communication is realized according to Dedicated short range communication (DSRC)standard or Wireless access in a vehicle environment (WAVE)standard.
