A camera device in which a mechanism for retracting an image pickup element to switch optical filters is not required to thereby enable a reduction in cost and weight is provided. A camera device (1) includes: an image pickup element (4); a birefringent plate (5) fixed to a front surface of the image pickup element (4); and an optical glass member (8) arranged on an optical path of the image pickup element (4) on a front side of the birefringent plate (5). The optical glass member (8) has a plurality of optical characteristic areas (11) and (12) with different optical characteristics from each other. The optical characteristic areas (11) and (12) are switched such that one of the plurality of optical characteristic areas (11) and (12) is arranged on the optical path by moving the optical glass member (8) in a direction intersecting with the optical path. The plurality of optical characteristic areas include an infrared cut filter area (11) and a blank glass area (12). The infrared cut filter area (11) is formed by depositing an infrared cut material with infrared cut characteristics on a surface of the optical glass member (8) .
