<p>A continuous pressure cooking method for nitrocellulose is carried out in a space-saving pressurised autoclave, opt. fitted with an agitator or conveyor screw. Specif., the incoming material is heated in counterflow in a heat exchanger by the outgoing material from the pressure cooker; the incoming line and discharge line contain positive displacement pumps, the former line having a non-return valve and the latter line an automatically operated valve which closes if the discharge pump fails. Safety of operation is achieved in a continuously operating but compact plant.</p> |
