The method involves selecting a fully hardened plate material as source material for a slotted plate (5). The outer contour of the slotted plate is cut and slots are introduced in the plate material using a non-thermal cutting process. Some of the slotted plates are provided with slots arranged asymmetrically to the longitudinal central axis of the slotted plate. The hardness of the source material is so selected that it corresponds to the hardness of the manufactured slotted plate.
