In one aspect, the invention relates to a gear milling cutter insert comprising a cutting edge (32) that is formed between a chip surface (30) and a clearance surface (31) and extends between a pair of opposite ends (33) of the milling insert. The individual cutting edge (32) includes, in addition to a straight main edge (321), a part edge (324) that is located between the same and one of the ends (33) and is shorter than the main edge (321) as well as deviates from a straight reference line in the extension of the main edge, more precisely in the direction of the end (33) and at a deviation angle of at most 10°. In an additional aspect, the invention also relates to a gear milling cutter equipped with the milling insert according to the invention. |
