A stairlift rail (10 fig 3) includes an electronically controlled actuator (20 fig 3) for moving at least a movable part (19 fig.3) of the rail relative to a fixed portion 18 of the rail and override means 28-34 adapted to force the actuator to move the movable part of the rail instead of the electronic control, for example by hand in the event of power failure. The override means may be directly attachable to the actuator or may include intermediate components such as rotating member 34 driving rotating member 28 by a pulley system 36, rotating member 34 being manually rotated by means of a tool such as C-spanner 38. |
