<p>1302082 Laminated products BOSTIK Ltd 23 Feb 1970 [24 Feb 1969] 8602/70 Heading B5N [Also in Division B2] The surface of a polymer resin body comprising polymer molecules having hydrogen atoms in the carbon chain of the repeating unit and having a critical surface tension of wetting of not more than 35 dyne/cm. is prepared for bonding to a second surface by applying thereto a ketone photo-sensitizer, irradiating with U.V. and depositing thereon a mixture of a heathardenable condensation product of an aldehyde and a p-hydrocarbyl phenol, which condensation product may be present as a reaction product with an oxide of Mg or Pb, and at least one of polychloroprene, butadiene-acrylonitrile co-polymer, butadiene styrene copolymer and natural rubber. The resin body may be of an ethylene or propylene polymer or copolymer, ethylene propylene-1,4-hexadiene terpolymer, polyvinyl fluoride or polyvinylidene fluoride. The adhesive composition may also contain rosin ester and chlorinated rubber and is applied as a thin film or organic solvent solution. It is subsequently activated by heat or solvent application and the polymer surface bonded to some other surface. The photo-senitizer may be benzophenone, benzoin, acetophenone or 2- acetonaphthene. In the examples, treated polyethylene or polypropylene strips are combined and treated polyethylene is combined with a rubber surface.</p> |
