PURPOSE: An energy storage apparatus of a hybrid electric railway vehicle is provided to select an appropriate mode according to a situation by arranging an interlocking mode between the energy storage apparatus and an inverter for the railway vehicle. CONSTITUTION: A drive inverter(10) outputs a drive power source by converting a wire-supply power source. An energy storage apparatus(100) receives the drive power source from the drive inverter. The energy storage apparatus stores regenerative power. The energy storage apparatus is comprised of a first conversion part(110) and a first storage part(112). The first conversion part drops or boosts the power sources. The first storage part charges the converted power source.
