POLYESTER FIBER AND PREPARATION METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: Polyester fiber capable of using for airbag fabric is provided to have excellent acceptability, shape stability and air blocking ability, thereby minimizing the impact to passenger and protecting passengers safely. CONSTITUTION: Polyester fiber capable of using for airbag fabric is able to be additionally elongated within the elongation rate of 0.5-5 % from the tensile strength of 8.0 g/d to maximum tensile strength under the tensile strength of 1.0 g/d after heat-treatment at 185 °C for 2 minutes. The polyester fiber has the elongation rate of 6.5-13.5 % under the tensile strength of 5.0 g/d, and the tensile strength of 4.5 g/d or higher under the elongation rate of 20% after heat-treatment at 185 °C for 2 minutes. The manufacturing method of the polyester fiber comprises a step of elongate polyester fine elongation filament by melt spinning a polyester polymer of which inherent viscosity is 1.2d/g or more at 270-310°C.
