OPTICAL MODULATOR FOR GENERATING OPTICAL DE-EMPHASIS SIGNAL AND METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: An optical modulator and a method for creating an optical modulating signal are provided to improve modulation rate by creating an output optical signal having an optical de-emphasis waveform. CONSTITUTION: A first optical waveguide(58-1) transmits a first optical signal in which phase is modulated by a first phase modulator(52). A second optical waveguide(58-2) transmits a second optical signal in which phase is modulated by a second phase modulator(54). The length of the second phase modulator is shorter than the length of the first phase modulator. The length of the second optical waveguide is longer than the length of the first optical waveguide. The first phase modulator and the second phase modulator respectively form the first optical signal and the second optical signal in which phase is modulated by a same input data stream.
