PURPOSE: A portable terminal and control method thereof are provided to enable a user to easily input information by displaying candidate input information for other input categories. CONSTITUTION: When an input menu is displayed on a touch screen and selects thumbnail corresponding to an input means, a control unit(180) displays an input means corresponding to the selected thumbnail to a second area. The control unit controls information inputted from plural input items by the selected input means. Candidate information is arranged in the order of frequency of usage.
