A multi-channel SAW(Stop And Wait) ARQ(Automatic Repeat Request) method for a mobile telecommunication system and an apparatus therefor are provided to reduce delay time for repeat-transmission, by using a multi-ARQ channel flexibly during repeat-transmission of data using a multi-channel ARQ scheme. According to a method for processing an ARQ(Automatic Repeat Request) using N multi-channels, it is checked whether there is NACK(Negative Acknowledge) received in correspondence to previously transmitted data. If there is no NACK, new data is transmitted using a next ARQ channel number according to the sequence of an ARQ channel number in a transmission time period allowing transmission(512,518). If there is NACK, an initial ARQ channel number causing the NACK during the transmission time period is selected. Corresponding repeat-transmission data is transmitted using the initial ARQ channel number causing the NACK. |
