<p>The method involves making slots in the direction of wood fibers on a wood veneer sheet (2) of a given initial dimension. The slots are spaced in a direction perpendicular to the direction of the wood fibers until obtaining openings by deformation of the veneer sheet and elongation in the direction of the spacing so as to allow the veneer sheet to be in the form of a mesh whose length is 5 to 15 times greater than the length of the initial dimension of the sheet. An independent claim is also included for a system for manufacturing a wood veneer sheet.</p>
