<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing β type sialon that achieves high luminous efficiency even when reduction in wavelength and band narrowing as a β type sialon phosphor are performed. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing a β type sialon represented by general formula: Si<SB POS="POST">6-z</SB>Al<SB POS="POST">z</SB>O<SB POS="POST">z</SB>N<SB POS="POST">8-z</SB>: Eu includes a burning step of burning raw material powder. The raw material powder has an Al content of 0.3-1.2 mass%, an O content of 0.15-1 mass%, an O/Al molar ratio of 0.9-1.3, an Si content of 58-60 mass%, an N content of 37-40 mass%, an N/Si molar ratio of 1.25-1.45 and an Eu content of 0.3-0.7 mass%. The burning step is a burning step in which the raw material powder is burnt in a nitriding atmosphere at 1,850-2,050°C and a produced β type sialon exhibits 0.280≤x≤0.340 and 0.630≤y≤0.675 in the CIExy chromaticity coordinates. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
