<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrict the provision of service with a service display label. <P>SOLUTION: A commodity code reader comprises: image capturing means which captures an image taken by imaging means; label reading means which detects a service display label attached to a commodity from the image of the commodity captured by the image capturing means, and reads service information corresponding to the service display label; and holding means which holds setting information for setting the validity/invalidity of the reading by the label reading means.
