<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent animals other than a harmful animal from being caught and killed, in a catch-and-kill trap for relieving and removing influence of harmful animals on the ecological system. <P>SOLUTION: The trap includes an illuminance sensor for detecting the brightness in the periphery, so that the trap is not operated in the night-time when harmful animals do not act. The motion of a trigger for actuating a capturing part is made by a member made of a shape-memory alloy, and a motor etc. is not used. A sensor for detecting animals is mounted inside the trap, and the capturing part is actuated by the detection of the sensor. A conventional trap is actuated as an animal pulls a bait, so that the trap is not be actuated if an animal enters the trap only to sniff.
