In this method, by controlling the driving of a work machine, which drives a structure by means of a hydraulic motor (2) that is driven by hydraulic oil supplied from a hydraulic pump (10) and an electric motor (3) that cooperates with the hydraulic motor (2), by performing differential pressure feedback control on the basis of a hydraulic oil pressure difference between the intake port and the discharge port of the hydraulic motor (2) and speed feedback control on the basis of the actual rotational frequency of the hydraulic motor (2), with respect to a speed command based on the amount of operation of a remote-control valve (5) that determines the amount of operation of the structure, a tilt command is generated and the tilt angle is controlled of the hydraulic pump (10) in a manner so that the amount of hydraulic oil necessary in the actual rotational frequency of the hydraulic motor (2) is discharged, and thus energy loss is suppressed by controlling the amount of oil supplied from the hydraulic pump to the hydraulic motor in accordance with the amount of operation of the remote-control valve, the rotational frequency of the hydraulic motor, and the hydraulic oil pressure difference between the intake port and the discharge port of the hydraulic motor.
