The invention relates to a method for treating turbine blades (1) which have cooling air holes (2) for the discharge of cooling air, wherein a protective coating is applied and then the cooling air holes that are partially or completely closed by the protective coating are re-opened, wherein before the protective coating is applied, co-ordinates concerning the position of the cooling air holes are acquired with the aid of an optical measurement sensor (4) on the basis of the optical triangulation method using at least one light source which generates a light beam and at least one light detector and the data obtained in this manner are used after the protective coating is applied to control a removal device for removing the protective coating which partially or completely covers the cooling air holes (2).
