The method involves operating an electrically operated parking brake by a control element (6). A determination brake request of a control device (1) is recognized by the control element, and an actuator (4) is actuated in order to lock the parking brake or loosen. The control element of the parking brake is operated to produce a storage entry, which characterizes a transitional state of the parking brake. A memory request is set such that the parking brake is opened after temporary failure of the control unit. An independent claim is also included for a control device for recalibrating an electrically actuated parking brake.
