<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change the design of a character printed on an envelope or the contents according to customer information or change the character to a form that is easy to read for a reader. <P>SOLUTION: Customer information is read from a storage medium (S101), default setting is applied unconditionally (S102), "changing setting" is read beginning with the first one (S103), and determination is made on whether or not a "condition" of the "changing setting" corresponds to the customer information read at S101 (S104). In this determination, when there is a correspondence, "change contents" is applied (S105); and when there is no correspondence, "change contents" is not applied. This is repeated until all "changing setting" is completely read (S106).
