METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR REALIZING POWER SAVING MECHANISM MANAGEMENT BETWEEN OPTICAL NETWORK UNIT (ONU) AND OPTICAL LINE TERMINAL (OLT)

Disclosed are a method and system for realizing power saving mechanism management between the Optical Network Unit (ONU) and the Optical Line Terminal (OLT). The power saving information is passed by the extended Operation Administration and Maintenance (OAM) frame between the ONU and the OLT; on the basis of the obtained power saving information, the ONU optical module is closed/open. With the method of the present invention, the optical module is closed in time when the ONU optical module needs not working, thus reducing the power consumption of the ONU and making the interaction between the ONU and the OLT meet the requirement of the power saving and the emission reduction.
