PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for automating a line switching of a manual switch are provided to automate a switching of a distribution line of a manual switch by attaching a line switching automating device to the manual switch. CONSTITUTION: A fault detector(110) measures a current of a distribution line connected to a manual switch. A control unit(120) transmits status information of the distribution line to a distribution automating server by analyzing measurement information from the fault detector. The control unit processes a control command received from the distribution automating server by corresponding to the status information. A communication unit(130) transmits and receives a signal to and from the distribution automating server. A switching operator(140) operates the on and off of the manual switch according to a control signal of the control unit.
