<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transfer data between game devices while reducing a load on a server. <P>SOLUTION: The game system 100 includes game apparatuses 10P, 10Q and a server 102. One game apparatus 10P has a first memory (52P) storing a software program (80) being made up of a program (82a) and save data (82b), the other game apparatus 10Q has a second memory (52Q) capable of additionally storing a software program, and the server 102 has a third memory (106) storing a program. The game apparatus 10P transmits the save data in the first memory to the other game apparatus 10Q by utilizing a local communication (S143), and the server 102 transmits the program in the third memory to the other game apparatus 10Q by utilizing Wi-Fi communications (S317).
