<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nail printing device for printing a nail area with high precision by easily and rapidly fitting the nail area to be a model to the appropriate position of a user's fingernail image and accurately specifying the nail area of the user, and a printing control method. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of feature points P are input along the contour line of the nail area within the fingernail image, and the coordinate positions and numbers of the feature points P are associated with one another and stored as a nail area extraction model M. Then, the fingernail image of a printing finger U1 is sequentially scanned from a predetermined direction. The feature point P corresponding to a reference pixel Cd on the fingernail image which is discriminated as the pixel expressing the fingernail area first by the scan, is defined as the reference point Pd of fitting to the nail area extraction model M so as to be superimposed on the reference pixel Cd. Then, with the reference point Pd as a reference, a nail area Ta is determined by performing matching so as to arrange the plurality of other feature points P of the nail area extraction model M at the corresponding coordinate positions on the fingernail image respectively.
