摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a robot and a method for determining a failure in the robot, to determine whether a distance sensor fails or not. <P>SOLUTION: The robot includes the distance sensor 15 and a distance detection unit 21 provided away from the distance sensor 15. The robot further includes: a first distance detection means detecting a distance between the distance sensor 15 and an object 50 in an environment based on an output value from the distance detection unit 21; a second distance detection means detecting the distance between the distance sensor 15 and the object 50 in the environment based on an output value from the distance sensor 15; a comparison means comparing a detection result of the first distance detection means and a detection result of the second distance detection means; and a failure determination means determining that the distance sensor 15 is abnormal or not when the detection result of the first distance detection means is different from the detection result of the second distance detection means based on a comparison result of the comparison means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
