<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque index sensor excellent in economical efficiency while improving productivity by simplifying a shape of an index magnet of the torque index sensor. <P>SOLUTION: A torque index sensor 135 for a steering system connected to an input shaft and an output shaft includes: a housing 132; an index magnet 140 rotating together with the output shaft and formed in a rectangular shape; and a magnetic element fixedly connected to the inside of the housing and generating a magnetic signal in accordance with the rotation of the index magnet.
