<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce any after-glow of an image displayed on a plasma display panel and thereby improve the image display quality. <P>SOLUTION: By a plasma display panel driving method, two kinds of sustain pulses including a first sustain pulse that generates light having one peak with a discharge cell and a second sustain pulse that generates light having two peaks with a discharge cell are generated in a sustain period. An all-cell lighting rate is detected for each subfield, and a partial lighting rate is also detected for each subfield. The detected partial lighting rates are compared one another among regions to detect for each subfield the maximum value region in which the partial lighting rate is higher than those in other regions. The generation patterns of the first sustain pulse and the second sustain pulse are controlled on the basis of the all-cell lighting rate and the maximum value region. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
