PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate desired texture and add the texture to an image.

SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus 15 according to an embodiment includes a generation unit 1505 which generates a texture image 108 by searching a pixel region similar to a processed pixel region near a processing target pixel in the texture image 108 from a near-field region at a position corresponding to a processing target pixel in a sample texture image 107 and allocating a pixel value near the similar pixel region depending on a positional relation between the processed pixel region and the processing target pixel to the processing target pixel. The generation unit 1505 searches the similar pixel region based on the similarity of the pixel values between the pixel region in the near-field region and the processed pixel region and the determination result whether each pixel of the near-field region expresses the same object as the processing target pixel. The image processing apparatus 15 also includes a composition unit 104 which combines a base image 105 with the texture image 108 to generate a composite image 110.
