<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a communication load between a plurality of devices (image forming devices) and a server by a simple and unified operation of uniformly setting a time in the plurality of devices, and also to eliminate a need for a special adjustment on a device management side. <P>SOLUTION: A confirmation time for confirmation processing to confirm whether a firmware applicable to an image forming device is managed with respect to a distribution server 133, and an application time for applying the firmware to the image forming device are set from an operation unit 510 of the image forming device. An update control unit 1601 performs the confirmation processing (1201, 1202) at an actual confirmation time randomly shifted from the confirmation time, and if it is confirmed that the firmware applicable to the image forming device is managed by the distribution server 133, the firmware is downloaded (1203) from the distribution server 133 and stored in an HDD 509.
