<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sound generation device enabling easy adjustment of a preload applied to a magnetostriction element, a simplified structure of a magnetostriction actuator, and reduced manufacturing cost by the reduction of the number of components. <P>SOLUTION: A sound generation device 6 mounted on a vehicle 1 to generate a notification sound to notify the presence of the vehicle 1 includes: a diaphragm 20; a case 40 having a first face 40A and a second face 40B facing opposite to each other; a giant magnetostriction element 41 accommodated in the case 40; a giant magnetostriction actuator 21 including a head 45 having a vertex portion protruded from a penetration hole 30 formed on the first face 40A and vibrated by the expansion and reduction of the giant magnetostriction element 41; and a bracket 22 (leaf spring 22A) for applying the preload to the giant magnetostriction element 41 by pressing, in a state that the head 45 contacts with the rear face 20B of the diaphragm 20, the giant magnetostriction element 41 from the second face 40B side toward the diaphragm 20. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
