The electric motor (10) has tachometer (34) which detects the speed of rotor (14) with encoder wheel (24). A temperature sensor (36) detects an engine temperature. A sensor module (26) has sensor module housing in which temperature sensor and tachometer are arranged. A fastening device fastens the sensor module in predetermined position in or on a housing of electric motor. The temperature sensor is a non-contact temperature sensor and the sensor module is formed as a unit replaceable spare component.
