A method and an apparatus for detecting an interface of a communication device are disclosed in the present invention, and the detection method comprises: a main control unit sends, according to a received detection command, a detection data packet to a single board for detecting an interface connection state between the main control unit and the single board (S102); when the interface connection state is disconnection, the operation data of the main control unit and the single board is collected (S104); according to the collected operation data and the pre-stored judgment rules for the interface errors, the error type of the interface is located (S106). In the present invention, through the detection command, the main control unit is controlled to detect the interface connection state of the single board automatically, and through the judgment rules for the interface errors, the error type of the interfaces is located automatically, and therefore the time and manpower for the interface detection are saved, and the efficiency of the interface detection is improved.
