<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for manufacturing glass particles which are capable of manufacturing glass particles free of cracks and having uniform sizes. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus for manufacturing glass particles is equipped with a pair of rollers comprising water-cooled roller 2a having a smooth circumferential surface and water-cooled roller 2b having many depressions 3 on the circumferential surface arranged closely with each other. Both of the rollers are driven in a way that one of them rotates in the opposite direction to the other and they rotate downward in their proximity. Molten glass is supplied in between the rollers of roller molds 2 from the top. Glass strip 10 having many projections 11 on one side is continuously molded downward from the rollers. The glass strip 10 is separated into projections 11 and thin plates 12. Glass particles with desired sizes are obtained by classifying the projections 11. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
