<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external device control unit from which a user can learn an appropriate operation method for an external device through the unit's behavior along with its voice and/or gesture. <P>SOLUTION: A service robot 10, one of embodiments realized by this invention, has a voice recognition function to recognize words spoken by a user. When the service robot is instructed to operate an external device by the user's voice, it operates the external device accordingly. In the external device operation, it acts imitating a human's operation for the external device using its voice and/or gesture. From this action, the user can learn an appropriate method to operate the external device through the voice and/or gesture.
