<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for sensing the state of a display and further regulating the state by the state of a media device by sensing the state of the display. <P>SOLUTION: The system for sensing the state of the display includes the display, a sensor which is constituted to sense the electromagnetic radiation generated by the display and is in proximity to the display, and at least one signal processing means constituted to process the signal received from the sensor. The at least one signal processing means outputs the signal indicating the state of the display.
